Season Ends With A Win

By April 18, 2025No Comments

Last Saturday Garnock faced Hillhead Jordanhill at Lochshore in their final league fixture of the season. This has been a tough campaign for Garnock as they find their feet at Nat 3 level.

Both teams took to the field missing key players. The visitors had rested players in advance of the National Cup final and Garnock were missing familiar faces due to injury and unavailability.

In truth Garnock dominated possession and territory throughout the game while the visitors were dangerous on the counter attack through their backs.

In the first half Garnock scored two tries through centre Cian Smith and No8 Ross Brocket. Both scores were converted. The visitors attacked when they had possession and scored two breakaway tries through the backs.  The half ended 14-14.

The second half continued in similar fashion to the first and was played almost entirely in the visitors half. Garnock scored four further tries against a single score from the visitors following an interception. Garnock’s try scorers were Matt Shiells, Tony Woods, Keir Walker and Per Jacobson. One conversion was successful and the match finished with Garnock 36-21 victors.

Only one of Garnock’s league opponents were the victors in both home and away fixtures which clearly shows that Garnock are more than capable of competing at Nat 3 level
